Yquem 1993

The 1993 Yquem bears the scars of a rain-soaked harvest that stretched from September into November. There's a noticeable flatness on the nose, lacking the usual vigor and intensity that defines this legendary château. The palate shows more promise with tangy marmalade and fresh, Aszú-like fruit character, but it feels abbreviated and somewhat hollow on the finish. A challenging vintage that never quite found its voice despite rigorous selection.
