Amber-hued with green reflections, the 1994 Yquem shows the challenges of this rain-affected vintage. Barley sugar, Seville orange marmalade and fig emerge on the nose with reasonable focus, though lacking the château's typical complexity. The palate opens well with tangy marmalade notes and fresh acidity, but falls short in the second half where it turns abrupt and dry. Missing the signature unctuosity that defines great Yquem. Drink soon, as further aging will not improve this wine.
