Jean-Claude Berrouet crafted something special in 1999, delivering aromatics that rival Lafleur with their precision and grace. Red berry fruit mingles with black truffle in an almost Burgundian expression of Pomerol's blue clay. The palate shows medium body with beautiful freshness, sage and truffle notes weaving through the red fruit core. The finish feels somewhat restrained by the vintage's limitations, yet this remains among the better Pomerols of the year.
