Petrus (Magnum) 2002

The 2002 Petrus from magnum shows pleasant composure but lacks the transcendent qualities that define great vintages of this legendary estate. The nose offers well-defined aromatics of dusty red fruit, cedar and tobacco, though it misses the complexity and sheer magnetism of peak years. On the palate, the wine displays good balance with dark cherry and spice notes, but tapers toward a finish of modest length. A perfectly respectable Pomerol that simply leaves you yearning for more.
