Frédéric Faye's inaugural vintage at Figeac shows the estate's distinctive character in transition. There's an almost Burgundian purity to the red fruit that opens with air into classic Bordeaux cedar and mint. Medium-bodied with supple tannins and fine acidity, it drinks harmoniously now though it lacks the precision of later vintages. The finish carries a masculine edge, marking this as both an enjoyable wine in its own right and a stepping stone to the exceptional 2009 and 2010.
