The 2012 Lafite-Rothschild displays classic restraint and refinement, though it lacks the precision of the estate's finest efforts. Pencil shavings, cedar and tobacco weave through dark fruit on both nose and palate. Medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and elegant composure. This is Lafite in a quieter register - dignified rather than dazzling. Give it until 2025 to fully integrate.
