The 2013 Petrus shows admirable concentration despite the vintage's challenges. Dark plum, tobacco, graphite and violet notes emerge with time in the glass. The tannins are firm and structured, providing backbone without overwhelming the fruit. Game, leather and smoke add complexity to the long finish. A wine that rewards patience and should develop beautifully over the next decade.
