Powerful and structured, the 2016 Cos d'Estournel shows the estate's signature gravelly minerality threading through dense cassis and graphite. The tannins are formidable but ripe, with cedar and tobacco notes emerging on the lengthy finish. This is clearly in a closed phase and needs extended decanting to reveal its full potential. A wine built for the long haul that should reward patience through 2035.
