Sublime from the first pour, the 2016 La Mission Haut-Brion captivates with its ethereal delineation and restrained power. Blackberries, briar and dark chocolate emerge alongside hints of rose petals that gain intensity with air. Medium-bodied with fine tannins and a veneer of oak that needs time to integrate. Graphite notes linger on a finish that fans out gloriously, caressing the palate with remarkable depth. Nearly on par with the legendary 1955 and 1989 vintages. Drink 2025-2045.
